In Year 3, children start by learning about their 'Local Area'.
Children support their learning by taking a walk around their local area, looking at how land is used, what facilities and amenities support the area.
Children study different maps, plans and photographs to see how land is used and represented. They look at how land has changed over the years.
Children have the opportunity to draw their own maps and plans of their area.
In the Summer term, Year 3 study 'Volcanoes and Earthquakes'.
Children look at how both volcanoes and earthquakes are formed and look at their structure. They will be able to locate the world's most famous volcanoes and earthquakes and plot these on maps.
